Vitamin C has been shown to reduce the duration and severity of common seasonal colds and flus (duh, right?). It is easily the most widely known natural cold remedy on earth, right along with chicken soup. While the scientific community keeps going back and forth about the efficacy large doses taken at once, since Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid) is water soluble, it is largely harmless. It is typically more effective when taken at the earliest possible sign of a cold. We say keep drinking your orange juice!
